Dear Guest,
2006 is almost over and what a year it has been, both for me and for search engine marketing. I’m sure you have heard about all the “Web 2.0” buzz out there like podcasting, blogs, mobile search, social sites like MySpace and YouTube, virtual worlds like Second Life and World of Warcraft. Lots of interesting new mediums to evaluate for online marketers, but most have not yet been proven as viable marketing mediums for business. What has been proven is SEO and Pay-per-click advertising are viable marketing mediums. Numerous companies, both large and small, have figured out a workable, ongoing, positive ROI strategy.
By the way, if you are planning a Christmas related pay-per-click advertising campaign, Google has some advice regarding the holiday rush: "As you and your clients prepare for the busy holiday season, we encourage you to create and submit your holiday ads by December 1, 2006. This will ensure that your ads are reviewed and approved to run during the holiday season."
That just means Google’s editors have plenty more time now to get campaigns up and running than they will in December, so if you do wait, don’t be surprised if you get lots of delays.
Happy Holidays!

SEO Case Study
Metro Wheels has a wheel/rim repair facility that processes hundreds of damaged wheels every day. They also sell new and used alloy wheels across the southeastern United States.
The Challenge: After 16 years in business, Metro Wheels wanted to use its website to generate leads. They came to us in 2005 for help with search engine optimization after becoming frustrated by higher and higher pay-per-click prices each month. The company’s goal was to gain top rankings in the natural search engine results for the keywords from their pay-per-click campaign, which were some of the most competitive search terms in the auto industry.
The Campaign: First, we targeted less competitive keywords to gain quick top rankings and increase traffic to the site. At the same time, we also targeted the very competitive keywords that everyone else in the automotive industry was after.
The Results: Terry, who manages e-mail requests from Metro Wheels’ website, said that in January ’06, they went from very little response to an average of 30 e-mails daily, which yield 10-12 wheel parts sales of $50 each, and they service 7-10 wheel repairs each week from out of state, averaging $120 each as a result of the e-mails. “The Internet has completely turned us around; we should have done this 3 years ago,” he concluded. What You Should Expect From Search Engine Optimization
Have you noticed the rising costs of pay-per-click (PPC) advertising or sponsored ads on the search engines? According to research, 72% of clicks in Google's search results are on links in the natural listings, rather than the sponsored listings. Natural or "organic" listings are the free ones - and those are the ones you want to have.
When your site begins ranking high in the natural or organic listings of the search engines, you can expect that:
- More people looking for your business can find it easily.
- You generate more business, depending on how well your site is tuned to communicate with your online audience.
- Other websites begin linking to your site as the place to go.
- Your PR efforts reap dividends as journalists find your site and "feature" you.
- Momentum builds over time and your site can begin ranking high for multiple related search terms.
